Milwaukee Police Department Office of Media and Communications
Dec 17 - The Milwaukee Police Department has a 29-year old Milwaukee man in custody in connection with a burglary that led to a pursuit on Milwaukee’s northwest side.
An observant citizen called police shortly before noon on December 17 when he saw a suspicious man in a neighborhood near N. 76th Street and W. Villard Avenue. Officers responded and found the suspect driving away. Officers tried to stop the suspect but he refused. The officers pursued the suspect to 51st Street and Capitol Drive where the suspect lost control of his vehicle and struck a curb. The suspect nearly struck a pedestrian before hitting a car that was turning south onto N. 51st Street. The driver of that car was injured and conveyed to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The suspect tried to run after the crash but he was quickly arrested by officers.
Officers recovered stolen property in the suspect’s vehicle that was taken from a home near where he was first observed. The suspect will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges. He has an arrest record with the Milwaukee Police Department for several offenses including robbery, burglary, and possession of illegal drugs.
