Dec. 15 - Milwaukee Police are crediting the keen observation skills of a witness for the quick arrest of a bank robbery suspect the afternoon of December 15.
At about 12:30 p.m. a 21-year-old St. Francis man was armed with a gun and wearing a mask when he robbed the M&I Bank at 414 W. National. While fleeing the bank with the proceeds of the robbery a passerby noticed the suspect and followed him to a nearby car. The witness was able to give a description of the car, including the license plate number, to the responding officers. Within four minutes of the witness providing this information Milwaukee Police officers were at the suspects St. Francis home.
With the assistance of the St. Francis Police Department the suspect was quickly arrested. Officers recovered the proceeds of the robbery along with the weapon and mask that the suspect used. The suspect will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
