Oct. 15 - Milwaukee Police arrested a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl for the October 10 armed robbery at Manny’s Import Shoes. Jovonte H. Love and a 17-year-old accomplice entered the store at 531 W. Lapham at about 2:15 p.m. The 17-year-old grabbed four pairs of shoes and walked out of the store without paying. When an employee of the store tried to stop her Jovonte Love intervened with a pistol. He took money from the employee and from the store’s cash register.
The victim knew Love as someone who had previously been in the store. He was later able to identify Love for investigators, and officers from District 2 went to Love’s home on October 11. Love ran from the house, but was arrested later that day. Officers found some of the stolen shoes in Love’s home. Love later identified his accomplice, who was arrested on October 12.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office has charged Jovonte Love and the 17-year-old girl each with one count of Armed Robbery.
