New Smoke-Free Law Took Effect July 5th

The Wisconsin Legislature, in the 2009-2010 Legislative Session, enacted 2009 Wisconsin Act 12, “Wisconsin’s Smoke-Free Law,” which prohibits smoking in all enclosed locations that are sites of employment or public places, including taverns, restaurants, lodging and retail establishments. The Wisconsin Smoke-Free Law took effect Monday, July 5th.

Beginning July 5th, the City will be prepared to receive specific complaints:

If follow-up on complaints is required, it will be handled cooperatively by the Department of Neighborhood Services, the Milwaukee Health Department, and, if necessary, the Milwaukee Police Department.
