Adolescent Community Health Program

The Adolescent Community Health Program (ACHP) promotes healthy behaviors and informed choices among adolescents in schools and in the community. ACHP provides health screening, counseling, teaching and health care advocacy. Many Milwaukee adolescents and young adults are faced with serious health problems related to teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STI), violence, and drug and alcohol abuse. Milwaukee has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the nation. Teen pregnancy profoundly affects the lives of young people, as well as their communities.

 

What services does ACHP provide?

  • Teaching skills on responsible sexual behaviors, fatherhood, motherhood
  • Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
  • STI's, drug and alcohol abuse and violence prevention
  • Support groups for a high-risk teens
  • Educational programs that reduce teen risk taking behavior
  • Outreach to homeless teens
  • Family Planning Waiver forms and information are available
  • Technical assistance in the assessment, policy development, and assurance of services
  • Condom distribution and education

 

Who is involved in ACHP? 

ACHP currently works in 11 schools in Milwaukee,and in the community through various non-profit and local organizations.
