Ald. Davis held an umbrella to protect young Eric Moore, son of the late Frank Moore II, shortly after a fall 2006 ceremony dedicating a street in the elder Moore's honor near J.L. Marcus.
Mr. Moore, a longtime J.L. Marcus employee, was gunned down last summer when he went to investigate a burglary at his neighbor's home. Ald. Davis was the primary sponsor of the legislation that created the street renaming in Mr. Moore's honor, and he has pushed Police Chief Nan Hegerty and the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office to explain a mix-up that allowed Mr. Moore's killer to go free when he should have been in jail for a previous crime.
