Milwaukee Police Department Office of Media and Communications Feb. 12 - The Milwaukee Police Department arrested a 26-year-old man on February 11 as he was stealing property from a car parked in the 1100 block of N. 8th Street.
Officers received a call shortly after 5:30 p.m. from a witness who saw the man break into a car by throwing a rock through the passenger side window. The officers found the suspect sitting in the passenger seat of the car with broken glass around him. The suspect was arrested and officers found the items that he was taking concealed in his clothing.
On December 2 the suspect was also arrested for breaking into cars. He was out of jail on bail for that incident when he was again arrested on February 11. He will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges in the coming days.
The arrest of this thief is a reminder to protect your valuables by keeping them out of sight when parking your car. After his arrest the suspect told officers that he targets cars to break into by looking for GPS mounts on the windshield. Locking your valuables – including purses, coats, and electronics – in the trunk of your car is the best way to protect yourself.
