Jan. 26 - The Milwaukee Police Department is alerting residents on the northwest side of several recent robberies where elderly women have been targeted. Police have seen about a dozen recent cases happening in the area between N. 60th Street and N. 92nd Street, W. Locust to W. Hampton.

Most cases have happened at or near the victim’s home. The suspect usually knocks the victim to the ground and takes her purse. In some cases it is believed that the suspect may have followed the victims home after the victims ran errands in the area. The suspect has been described as a black male in his 30’s, about 5’10” with a stocky build, and wearing a dark jacket.

Police are asking that residents be alert when arriving back home from running errands. If you believe you are being followed call police from a cell phone or drive to a busy public place or police station instead of going home.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the Milwaukee Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau at 414-935-7360.
