For Safety and Wellness tips from the Federal Government click on http://www.os.dhhs.gov/. The site includes great information about eating right, exercise, fitness, safety tips, smoking cessation and drinking in moderation.

You can register with the State of Wisconsin for the Governor's Challenge at http://www.wisconsinchallenge.org/. The challenge allows you to set up an activity log, earn awards and offers tools to help you keep physically fit. The challenge provides two activity levels: an Active Lifestyle program for those starting out, and a Presidential Champions for those already active and looking for new challenge.

Aurora Health Services provides the Get Moving Wisconsin site at http://www.aurorahealthcare.org/services/business/getmoving/why-get-moving.asp. There is a great deal of valuable information about opportunities available for employers starting an active lifestyle program at the workplace that can also be used by employees.

These other Milwaukee hospital groups all have helpful and valuable information on their website for employees looking to improve their quality of life:

  • The Covenant system site, www.covhealth.org has useful wellness tools including nutritional information, calorie burner counter and a nutritional needs calculator as well as smoking cessation classes for small groups or at work sites.
  • On the Froedert site, www.froedtert.com click "wellness" for information about the importance of walking and information about their community education classes.
  • The Columbia system site, www.columbia-stmarys.org has information about proper care of the heart through their HeartMath Stress Management program.
  • The current City insurance companies, WPS and CompcareBlue, also have extensive web sites that in addition to provider directories and information about their insurance plans, include information about wellness and healthy lifestyle.
