Influenza in Wisconsin this 2007-08 Season: 894 cases of Flu A (73-H1, 517-H3 and the remainder untyped) and 581 Flu Bs were confirmed by the State Lab in Wisconsin, though, as usual, more cases likely occurred as not all Influenza is confirmed by a lab. 95 Flu As (9-H1, 86-H3 ) and 35 Flu Bs have been confirmed by MHD Labs for the 2007-8 season.


Each flu season in the United States, there are approximately 36,000 deaths from Influenza. Some of these deaths are the very young ("pediatric") and the very old, or those with underlying health conditions. People who are very young, very old or with underlying health conditions should consult with their health care provider about getting a flu shot. You can also prevent the Flu and other illnesses with good hygiene and by staying home when you or your family are sick!
